12/8 Blacket Ave - Our new home!

Friday, August 10th: WE HAVE ARRIVED!! After a long day of traveling, flight delays, and no sheets we are happily in Edinburgh.

We were unable to get our luggage until Monday due to the offices it was in being closed. We were told that the flat came with sheets (extras in our luggage).....nope. It's now 7:30 at night and the closest department store is 1 mile away, not bad, but we still don't have our stroller! So we went and got sheets, walked back and found a great spot just a block away for dinner. 9:30pm we go into the restaurant and found out that the local licensing policies require kids cannot be in a restaurant that sells alcohol after 10:00pm....ahhh we just wanted a beer! Thankfully a very kind hostess came to the rescue and allowed us to enjoy a beer and a quick appetizer in the 30 remaining minutes, perfect ending!

Saturday, August 11th: Exploring the city. We had a wonderful day taking it all in. The gigantic ferris wheel was a must, and eating lunch in Prince's street gardens with the Castle in the background was fantastic!

Sunday August 12th: We've said farewell to summer. We met some neighbors today; a couple from Albania who have 2 kids the same ages as Kylie and Norah and a couple from Georgia (the country), that have a little boy the same age as Asher.

Monday, August 13th: Luggage Day. We had a very accomplished day. We went and visited a potential nursery school with Asher, got our Scotland ID cards, retrieved our 500 lbs of luggage and did some shopping. There was a mention of IKEA, so we figured out the bus system and headed to grab a few items to make the flat a little more functional! I'm a happy girl, because we found a Costco that is only a 20 minute bus ride away! Hardest part of the day was carrying all our luggage up 4 full flights of stairs and 4 half flights! We did it, let the unpacking begin!

Tuesday, August 14th: Holyrood Park. We ventured about a 5 minute walk away to Holyrood Park. We are very lucky that this is in our backyard. We had a great time looking at the magnificent views and getting some energy out! Seth and I hope this will be part of our weekly stops!

Wednesday, August 15th: First day of School. Kylie and Norah had their first day at Preston Street Primary. They loved it and we think they look adorable in their uniforms! We went and played at The Meadows playground after school. And now starts the weekly routines...

Thursday August 16th: More school, more play, more Holyrood!
